Thank You Saha!
What happened when you woke up and found out you missed the first half action soccer match? Me? Nothing happened. I just freaked out. Yeah, I woke up in the 43rd minute of the first half, thanks to the ‘desire’ to watch MU.
So, for the first time, in the history book of S0cc3RBlog, I can’t give u any review in the first half of the match. All I knew were, MU was doing defensive work, Roo was stationed on the left flank, Ronaldo was booed by the home supporters, and Thank God, no Fletcher nor Richardson in the 1st 11.
The rest, maybe u can drop by @ Soccernet.
Ok, 2nd half here u go.
Benfica kicked off the 2nd half. And I finally understand what the commentator was saying. MU has struggled and the opponent has been having a lot of possession. Ronaldo has been the threat, pulling out the opponent defence with his slick skills.
Scholes won the ball and quickly send it to Ronaldo whose making a quick run. He spotted Saha on the rite flank and pass it to him. Calm and composed, Saha pulled a trigger and score the winner. It seems to get a lil’ deflection on the opponent boots, but the goal was a good one.
Ironically, the movement was almost similiar to the one when MU won againts Charlton if I am not mistaken. Everyone gave more attention to Ronaldo’s run and misinterpret Saha’s body language. Benfica looked lost and easily disposes by MU.
Saha cud’ve add in his goal tally but his shot was inches wide after being fed by Carrick on the right side. Ronaldo again, run the show and this time, he was fouled rite outside the penalty box. Giggsy wasn’t in, so the freekick duty was shouldered to Ronaldo himself.
He nicked the ball passed the opponent but the ball failed to curled inside the net. Otherwise, it cud be a great moment for the man who was abused all nite. There’s time however for Benfica to pull an equaliser after Ronaldo fouled Simao on the outside of the penalty box.
Simao remembered for his great goal againts Liverpool last season, took it but this time his shot was too hard to bother Van Der Sar. There’s time for Rooney, who had been quiet and limited to defense work, to score. Neville, saw his surging run and beautifully passes the ball to him.
He stopped it, beat his marker and curled his shot. It wasn’t a goal but at least we saw some positive movement down the left flank. By the time he released the ball, there are 4 opponent defenders surrounding him!
Heinze has been great in the 2nd half * I didn’t watched 1st half so I know nuts abt it!*. He even had his shot saved. No doubt he was no 1 choice in the left back. Carrick even had a shot on goal. Perhaps if he nicked it hard, he wud’ve put his name in the CL score list. Roo and Saha were withdrawn to make way for Fletcher and Smith.
Overall, *in the 2nd half*, I saw a great spirit and battle in the team. Without Richardson or Fletcher in the starting line up the team looks far better. This is MU first away match win. Over the past 3 years, we cud only draw or loose away games. Hope this is the starting point for them.
Anyway, can’t comment much coz God knows what Fergie has been saying the in the 2nd half to lift the team. Thank you God! Thank you! Up next is Newcastle United. This is not an easy game but I hope MU can keep working their way, score goals and win! Up the DEVILS. Come on MU!
